Use archival specifications as a comparison sheet—not as a substitute for the unit nameplate.
The table below consolidates commonly published historical M2001 specifications and marks the fields that must be verified on the installed unit.
Archival M2001 specification table
| Attribute | Published archival value | Verification action |
|---|---|---|
| System type | High-purity LN₂/water airflow-visualization fog generator | Confirm model and revision on the unit nameplate. |
| Published operating time | Up to approximately 45 minutes | Measure only after safe inspection and approved test setup. |
| Published droplet diameter | Approximately 3 µm | Treat as an archival claim unless supported by the applicable manual/test report. |
| Dimensions | Approximately 21 × 16 × 15 in. (533 × 406 × 381 mm) | Measure the actual enclosure and note modifications. |
| Weight | Approximately 55 lb (25 kg) | Confirm dry versus operating weight before lifting or transport. |
| Boiler/water volume | Approximately 3 L | Inspect chamber condition and confirm approved water type. |
| LN₂ dewar volume | Approximately 9 L | Confirm the dewar, venting and relief configuration; never assume capacity from appearance. |
| Power | Published as 115 VAC, 50/60 Hz, 15 A; optional 220 VAC, 50/60 Hz, 10 A | Use only the rating shown on the exact unit. |
| Fog delivery | Approximately 2.5 m flexible hose and three-piece extendable wand | Inspect hose integrity, fit, cleanliness and restrictions. |
What can vary between units
Electrical market version
Voltage, plug, current draw and protection may differ between North American and export units.
Accessory package
Hose length, wand pieces, elbows, cases and fittings may not match the original shipment.
Field modifications
Repairs, substitute wiring, altered vents or non-original components can invalidate archival assumptions.
Build an asset-specific specification sheet
Create one controlled record containing photographs, serial/revision identifiers, electrical rating, chamber capacities, hose dimensions, accessory inventory, last known operating date, repair history and observed condition. That record is more useful than a generic product page when deciding whether to restore or replace the unit.
Practical answers
Why do different M2001 pages show slightly different wording?
Legacy equipment descriptions were republished by multiple distributors and resellers. Treat the unit nameplate and revision-specific manual as higher authority than a reseller page.
Is 45 minutes guaranteed?
No. It is an archival published duration. Actual performance depends on condition, fill level, operating sequence, environment and revision.
Do not select a replacement from the model name alone.
Applied Physics can compare the existing unit, test objective, required fog output, runtime, room size, delivery hose and facility constraints before recommending a current ultrasonic or LN₂ platform.
